PRIMUS CANADA NOW PROVIDING EXCLUSIVE CANADIAN-BASED CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR MORE OF ITS CUSTOMERS
Expanded Domestic Operations to Create More than |

Toronto, Canada – (April 22, 2009) Residential high speed internet customers of Primus Telecommunications Canada (www.primus.ca) will no longer have any of their customer service or technical support calls handled by off-shore representatives thanks to a new initiative that will provide increased Canada-based customer care and, in the process, create 113 new Canadian jobs, the company announced today. This is in addition to the exclusive Canadian-based customer care that Primus’ Wireless and TalkBroadband VoIP customers have received for sometime. Primus Canada currently employs more than 200 people in its Edmundston, New Brunswick-based call centre. As Canada’s largest alternative communications carrier, Primus is transitioning much of its customer service operations, some of which had been outsourced to India, back to Canada as soon as practical. All of Primus Canada’s Technical Support team has been transitioned back to Canada. DSL, Wireless and VoIP home phone service customers will be able to speak to local representatives if the call is placed from their home phone or if they enter the number listed on the account when prompted. As always, customers can access the help centre on Primus’ website at www.primus.ca where they can update their account or can find answers to both technical and non-technical questions. “Every company with customer service operations that are partly outsourced, has heard some complaints from customers, for a variety of reasons, with respect to dealing with customer service representatives located overseas,” said Rob Warden, VP Residential Marketing for Primus Canada. “Our customers have told us they prefer to deal with Canadian representatives and we’re responding to their feedback. While we hold all our representatives – wherever they are located – to a high standard, we have also come to believe that the best way to serve our customers is to locate as much of our customer service operation as possible in this country. “We are also delighted to be able to play a part in local job creation during these challenging economic times.” About Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc. |
